The Mavens' Way
We're a collective who strive to create beautiful pieces for the home from fabrics, furniture and rescued ephemera which would otherwise end up in landfill
Our aim: Always strive to do right
We founded The Mavens inspired by the possibilities in recycling, upcycling and reversioning materials that would otherwise be discarded.
We aim to produce pieces in a thoughtful and considered way whilst trying to be as responsible to others and our planet as we can. It is important to consider the longevity of the pieces we design and produce which, by the very nature of the sourced materials, are limited runs creating individual stories for each and every piece that is lovingly designed and made by us in Yorkshire.
Cushion Pads
Our cushion pads are made using a high thread count cotton and filling with 100% traceable British wool.
They are the perfect cushion pad alternative for allergy sufferers as they're naturally hypoallergenic and dust mite resistant.
Wool cushion pads make a real change from feather cushion pads, which tend to leak feathers after a while and require constant plumping.
The wool comes from farms that adhere to the Five Freedoms, enshrined in the Animal Welfare Act, 2007.
Traceability
Global textile production produces billions of tonnes of CO2 making it one of the most polluting industries in the world - flooding rivers with chemicals, polluting drinking water and destroying habitats.
Wool is a healthy, sustainable and versatile fibre, boasting natural, renewable, biodegradable qualities without devastating impacts on natural resources. The wool fleece on a sheep needs to be sheared annually in order to manage the health and well being of the sheep. A new fleece will grow each year on nothing but a diet of fresh air, sunshine, water and grass.
Cleaning Instructions
Our cushions are made from a variety of materials and some braids are delicate so beyond a spot clean if they need anything more it will be specialist dry cleaning.
The cushion pads are entirely natural, so shouldn't need cleaning often (simply airing the product can do it the world of good).
We highly recommend Johnson Cleaners, who have a fantastic, non-toxic service called Green Earth.
Packaging
We always strive to do right by our packaging and use recyclable and compostable packaging and aim to use DHL for our deliveries as they are a pioneer in green logistics using clean fuel and technology whilst being committed to carbon offsetting.
